Resilient

We are delighted to showcase Resilient, a series of new portraits and installations by Andrea Tyrimos.
“A lot of my new work has been created on steel. For me, steel as a material represents the beautiful strength and vulnerability that exists when it comes to our mental health. Steel can be marked and scratched, its smooth finish altered by dents and the surface tarnished by rust – yet it is strong and will stand”
In this exhibition Andrea’s intimate portraits and installations aim to uplift as they explore the themes of mental health and resilience.
An example is her painting of NHS doctor ‘Sophie’, created during London’s first lockdown in 2020, with the aim of elevating key workers to the status they deserve by shining a light on the crucial work they do. This painting was illuminated on London’s Oxford Street as part of a huge display of public art for the #MakeItBlue initiative.
Ing Discerning Eye Purchase Prize
In 2020 Andrea’s portrait Sui was selected as winner of the ING Discerning Eye Purchase Prize and was added to ING’s UK art collection.
