Marco Circhirillo was born in 1980 in Parma, where he lives and works. He obtained bachelor’s degree in Art, Theatre and Multimedia at Literature and Philosophy Faculty of University of Parma and master degree in Contemporary Art History.
His expressive research especially regards photography, where his passion for Art History leads him to dialogue with the greatest masters, ranging over various techniques: from analogue to digital, but also to graphics and to installation art. Thus various series are engendered, each of them characterized by formal and expressive peculiarities of its own; often, though, the trait d’union is the inquiry into the theme of the alchemical double.
Artist Marco Circhirillo worked on a successful art project with Milanese art gallery Fabbrica Eos. The project is a video performance entitled “Dal Tramonto all’ Alba” (From Dusk till Dawn), curated by Chiara Canali. The video performance is a powerful shot filming the artist in the middle of the gallery while he scatters small photographic images of his portrait all over the gallery’s floor. Through his photographic language, alternating analogue and digital techniques, Marco Circhirillo narrates the multiplicity and fragmentation of the ‘Self’, in a process of division and duplication of identity. His work focuses on the exploration of the continuity of his own identity, which doubles, multiplies and replicates endlessly. Watch a teaser of the video performance here.
