‘The Woman in the Photograph’ by Àsìko x St James Market Pavilion
MTArt Agency has launched another free public art exhibition at St James Pavilion with the work of our artist Àsìko. Through an anthology of photographs, Àsìkò celebrates womanhood: its beauty, its complexity, vulnerability and strength.
His conceptual work chronicling photographs from 2015 to 2021 pays homage to the narratives of the female experience as experienced between the U.K. and Africa. The work is made up of portraits, fashion images and digital collages constructed in the narrative that straddles fantasy and reality as a response to his experiences of identity, culture and heritage. Through the use of constructed storytelling and the application of composition, form and movement, Àsìkò draws the viewer into a conceptual narrative of the space of women in society and its intersection of cultural structures. The work is a love letter to the female experience, celebrating its beauty, colour and culture.
